Come on! You pick the Twins to win the Wild Card spot and then have them going out in the ALCS? Everyone knows the Wild Card team has won 3 of the past 4 World Series.

Seriously though, I think putting the Twins in the playoffs might be a bit too hopeful. I'm crossing my fingers though.

Yeah, I didn't want the Twins pick to come off as homerish. But as I explained in my AL preview last week, there are a lot of reasons to think the Twins will improve quite a bit offensively this season. And that would allow them to win a lot of the close games they lost last year.

Maybe it is a little optimistic to expect them to post such a good record in what will be a tough division, but being pessimistic is just no fun.

Twins winning the wild card? Come on. I love the Twins too, but they won't be able to sniff the wild card spot this year.

A.J.- I wanted to be a little more creative, I really did, but I just can't see anyone in either league toppling these guys barring injury. The AP isn't totally against voting the same guy in on multiple occasions -- Barry Bonds won the NL MVP four consecutive times prior to Pujols winning it last year.

John- We shall see. Maybe I'm being overly optimistic, but with that pitching, all it will take is a few more breaks on offense.
