Last spring, we both correctly picked the Cardinals to win the World Series, but the rest of our predictions weren't terribly accurate. This year, we've both got AL teams winning the World Series, but not the same one. Here are our predictions for the 2007 season. We'd love to hear yours in the comments section.

Ok, wow... after actually reading this I've got to take issue...
The Dodgers are the class of the NL? Seriously, or was this some kind of inside joke I missed out on?
Oh hold on, you guys picked the Cards to win it all... Never mind, I'll shut up and put a grand on the Dodgers... I Wonder what type of odds Vegas is giving this time of year.
And as much as I like Alex Gordon, you two both think he'll win it over ROY eligible K-Mat or Delmon Young? I mean sure, the kid can rake but it's the Royals, of course they're going to screw him up. The rest of the picks are pretty plausible... except the A's winning the West where I think the Halos have'em beat in just about every category, speed, power, average, pitching (at both ends). Also, Indians win the central? I think not.

I'm not buying the hype, and I won't until I see him perform against major-league batters in regular season games. It's great that he was dominant in Japan, but the hitters here are a lot better. Gordon is an absolute stud, and he'll get every opportunity with the Royals this year.
BTW, Delmon Young had 126 ABs with the Devil Rays last year and is no longer an eligible rookie. I'd take Gordon over him anyway though.

How are they not? That team is stacked this year. Their rotation is outstanding with Lowe, Schmidt, and Penny (not to mention Chad Billingsley, who could step in do some damage if he figures out how to throw strikes). The lineup is a good mixture of established vets and promising youngsters, including LaRoche who was my pick for Rookie of the Year.
The NL is pretty weak this year, and in my opinion the Dodgers have the most well-rounded team, and the team that is best built for playoff success.

Division round: Boston over Cleveland, Minnesota over LAA
Championship: Minnesota over Boston
NL playoff teams: NYM, Cincinnati, LA, Philadelphia (wild card)
Division round: Philadelphia over NYM, Cincinnati over LA
Championship: Cincinnati over Philadelphia
World Series: Minnesota over Cincinnati
I know, I know, I’m a homer…but hear me out. By the end of the year I will take the Santana and Garza duo over any other. Outside of the duo: Boof is the troof, A few years and about 8000 earned runs ago Ortiz had himself a nice little World Series run and he’s looked back to form this spring. And, then there are the other young guns… Short story long - I think we’ll like our rotation in September. I love our pen, and I really like our line-up. We need to trade some of our pitching for a 3B (preferably with power, right-handed, and possibly named Scott Rolen…. that might be a stretch)
The Twins-of-the-NL to the WS is also admittedly a stretch. I like their pitching, and I have a feeling they are going to make some trades to make room for Mr. Bailey. They’ll either trade for bullpen help or put Bailey there. If Josh Hamilton keeps hitting baseballs and not crack pipes…they are going to have to make room for that young man too. It all really depends on the success of Bailey.

Also, and Im saying this without taking a look back at your actual pics, but I've got a huge man crush on the Bo Sox this year.
I think they're rotation is loaded (I do believe in K-Mat), Beckett has looked good (he straight uncle Charlie-ed the Twins to death last week), I think old #38 has one good year left and their lineup is way loaded. And with Paps back in the pen, it really brings things together on the back end.

I have to also step in and defend the Dodgers pick. In addition to what my fellow blogger mentioned, the Dodgers have a great bullpen. Its just hard not to like such a balanced team. The Mets don't have that kind of balance and neither do the Cubs. The Cubs bought enough to get in, but not enough to do real postseason damage.
As for K-Mat, I agree he's way overhyped. Many suspect that the gyroball isn't actually real and its likely this guy doesn't actually have 6 pitches. He also doesn't have the deceptive delivery or devastating splitter Nomo did and he may not translate right away. Gordon, on the other hand, has potentially hall-of-fame talent. Why is it unreasonably to pick him over a Japanese hurler who may already be on the downside of his career? Remember, those guys throw a ton of innings and even position players may come here on the downside of their careers. (Kaz Matsui anyone?)
I just don't see anything ridiculous about those picks. Plus, this is meant to be a fun exercise to spark debate. Its way too easy to pick K-Mat as the ROTY.

I know that Grady Sizemore is a great player and very valuable, but I just don't see how he can put up the kind of numbers that sports writers like. I think the MVP is more likely to go to a slugger.

Sizemore's not a slugger? He slugged .533 last year, with 28 homers and a total of 92 extra-base hits. All while playing a valuable defensive position and swiping bases.
