Look at their ops+s for the last 3 years. Atkins 136,112,97. Cuddyer 124,111,92. And the 92 was in a very injury plagued season. Atkins wasn't hurt or anything and put up below league average numbers after taking park factors, etc. into account. Both play below average defense, although Atkins plays a tougher position.

I guess the point is that Cuddyer plus a prospect might be ok, but Cuddyer with any of our starting staff is way too much for an expensive slight upgrade to Buscher/Harris. I'd be ok signing Blake if it's for 2 years, since we wouldn't have to give up any talent. I'd also be ok with leaving 3b as is and trying to get a stud shortstop. I guess we'll see.Steven Ellingsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03023063969965767482noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11215059.post-14526434361753502742008-11-07T16:31:00.000-06:002008-11-07T16:31:00.000-06:00I'd say no to a Cuddyer for Atkins swap. Signing Blake, maximum 2 years, is honestly probably the best solution.Benjaminhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00601380935824401744noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11215059.post-4662815475153528832008-11-07T11:53:00.000-06:002008-11-07T11:53:00.000-06:00Blackburn AND Cuddyer make me a little cautious. When Ringolsby says multi-player trade, who says we are the only people to give up multiple players? I know it's pure conjecture, but I think Cuddyer/Bonser/Mulvey/Casilla for Atkins/Barmes would be interesting.

And all this hopefully doesn't interfere with a quest for Hardy, who I'd actually be willing to give up a Fab 5 member for. Maybe Blackburn/Revere and an unproven but promising arm for Hardy? Then we've got an infield of Morneau, Barmes, Hardy, and Atkins which might have some nice hitting potential.

I'm just grasping at straws, I know, but it's fun to dream.Topperhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04630727502510188723noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11215059.post-1447406490947878572008-11-07T11:08:00.000-06:002008-11-07T11:08:00.000-06:00And Ramon Ortiz.
