Of course, he would be making the minimum instead of $5M, but still, I think most would be excited for his debut. He'll never hit for much power, but I imagine his slugging will get a boost from his ability to get a lot of triples at Target.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13144401782607592201noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11215059.post-77156793557966047702011-03-18T12:10:38.539-05:002011-03-18T12:10:38.539-05:00Mets just released Luis Castillo. I suspect his line will clock in a little closer to .280/.340/.380 and I wouldn't be shocked to see him end up close to .400 SLG.

One of the best parts about Nishioka this spring is Gardy seems to like him. He also fits in with the Gardy preference of of a speedy guy who plays 2B batting second and as a switch hitter he'll break up the LHs nicely there. It looks like he's got good bat control so he'll be able to hit & run with Span and hopefully his speed will reduce some of the double plays from hitters behind him.Joshnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11215059.post-26621706633528509092011-03-17T10:05:34.125-05:002011-03-17T10:05:34.125-05:00sure hitters have control over their babip to a de...sure hitters have control over their babip to a degree, but a .389 would have been third in baseall last year next to other overacheivers who are due to regress (like austin jackson). Ichiro's career babip would be a best case obviously (given his speed and line drive hitting) and his - for comparison is .357 for his career. I have high hopes that he can hit around .300 with a .350 OBP and speed on the bases and a slightly above average glove, but there is no chance he comes close to replicating his numbers in terms of average from last year in the MLB this year.Randy Knoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11215059.post-77560924693363326402011-03-17T08:40:43.378-05:002011-03-17T08:40:43.378-05:00I don't know, I find it hard to get excited ab...I don't know, I find it hard to get excited about a .660 OPS..
