He is in love with stockpiling pitching prospects and only wants to move a guy after the franchise has basically given up on him.

I wouldn't give up anyone major-league ready to get Ty, either, though. He'd be an upgrade over Punto or Tyner, but not a guy that'd be so significant that it'd be worse losing a high-level prospect. Someone from A-ball? Maybe.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11215059.post-91479739100403974662007-06-12T12:11:00.000-05:002007-06-12T12:11:00.000-05:00As sad as it is, it may be true. We both figured them to be third in the division and both of us choose the Indians to win the division. It seems things may be heading that way and there are many reasons for that, most of which were foreseeable in March. (Ponson, Ortiz, no good hitters signed, lack of a bench, etc)

With that, I tend to agree that a trade isn't smart if we are going to give up and go for 2008. I'm sure Terry Ryan is thinking the same thing, especially when he has to contemplate trading Torii.Nick M.https://www.blogger.com/profile/05029328242185237902noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11215059.post-57848870200690118492007-06-12T09:22:00.000-05:002007-06-12T09:22:00.000-05:00I think before we decide on a move like this the t...I think before we decide on a move like this the twins need to figure out whether they're going to go for it this year or not. It would obviously be a waste to trade pitching prospects for Ty if we're going to turn around and trade Hunter (who has more power than Ty anyway). Personally, I think its going to be a long shot for us to make the playoffs with the Tigers, Indians, Yankees and A's all in the hunt as well, and even if we do make it I'm not sure if we have the pitching to compete. Right now I'm thinking we trade Hunter for some good hitting prospects and focus on trying to re-sign Santana...and hope Liriano can bounce back.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
