GB rate is everything, and I fear ...You nailed it. GB rate is everything, and I fear the Twins don't value that enough when evaluating their minor league guys. It's a more important skill (by far) in MLB than in MiLB, where the infield defenses are a good 20-40 points of GB BABIP worse. Thus I FEAR for Carlos Gutierrez, who I believe would have MUCH better traditional WHIP and thus ERA numbers if he had an MLB infield playing behind him (assuming Brendan Harris isn't the shortstop so that LNP isn't forced to *gasp* switch positions, although probably even then). Likewise, Kyle Waldrop should probably be pitching outta the pen right now (I might even take him over Slama), as his groundball rate for the past season + is over 60%.tobynoreply@blogger.com
