The Rockies have gotten plenty of big hits as well as good years from Brad Hawpe (underrated), Garrett Atkins, Troy Tulowitzski, and of course Todd Helton, who despite losing a lot of power remains a very good hitter and a good defensive first baseman. Holliday, thus, stand outs in similar ways to the way Rollins stands out on the Phillies. If those considerations, for all intensive purposes are equal, then based on what has been listed about Rollins, he should be the MVP.Nick M.https://www.blogger.com/profile/05029328242185237902noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11215059.post-21228177773812915242007-10-08T14:14:00.000-05:002007-10-08T14:14:00.000-05:00If anyone wants to read a compelling argument in f...If anyone wants to read a compelling argument in favor of Rollins, you should check out Tom Verducci's feature in the latest Sports Illustrated.

A couple other interesting facts about Rollins:

* He came to the plate this more times year than any other hitter in MLB history.

* The Phillies went 5-21 in games where Rollins did not get on base.Nick N.https://www.blogger.com/profile/00848574337121154690noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11215059.post-13864931508403846952007-10-08T12:35:00.000-05:002007-10-08T12:35:00.000-05:00I would take Holliday over Rollins, not because if...I would take Holliday over Rollins, not because if you took each off their team it would affect the teams adversely, because in both cases both teams would suffer significantly...but i don't think it will be rollins because he has teammates like howard and utley, they will do nothing but take away votes from rollins...and Holliday was the heart and soul of that team down the stretch, plus it would seem whenever the rockies needed a big hit, Holliday was the one doing it...

The Rockies are my Twins of the NL, and they will bring me a championship this year!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11215059.post-45545440074740903652007-10-08T08:52:00.000-05:002007-10-08T08:52:00.000-05:00Excellent picks. I think the only two I would disagree with would be that I pick Matt Holliday over Jimmy Rollins and Ryan Braun over Troy Tulowitzki.

While I agree what Rollins did as a shortstop was incredible, I just think if you would have taken Holliday off the Rockies, they would be hurting more than if you took Rollins off the Phillies. I know that is a very easily argued point, but I'm going with it. I'm so torn between these two that you could say just about anything to get me to change my mind!

And While Braun was a mess at third base, what he did at the plate was just, for a lack of a better term, awesome.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11215059.post-8895588175995770362007-10-07T22:54:00.000-05:002007-10-07T22:54:00.000-05:00Great picks. I'd probably agree with each one, although I might be inclined to take Braun as NL RotY just because his offensive numbers were so huge, even though he was one of the worst defensive third basemen I've ever seen.Nick N.https://www.blogger.com/profile/00848574337121154690noreply@blogger.com
